Hello and best wishes!
I know that it is officially still winter, but I can feel
springtime in the air and I hope warm sunshine, green grass
and beautiful flowers are on their way to your neighborhood
soon. With that in mind I would like to let you know about
some very special concerts coming up next month.
2008 is the 50th anniversary of the Bossa Nova and Carmen
and I will be celebrating by collaborating on a series of
shows with an All-Star band and some very 'familiar' special
guests as well.
As some of you may already know, the music of Antonio Carlos
Jobim, Joao and Astrud Gilberto and their legendary collaboration
with Stan Getz, played a major role in our lives, both personally
amd musically. It was when I was on tour with Getz, that I
had a three night engagement in Madrid, Spain. Carmen, being
a huge fan of Bossa Nova, made sure to get down to the gig.
To make a long story short, we met, fell in love, ad were
married six months later with Stan as our best man!
Well
here we are twenty-nine years later, still together, and still
playing Bossa Novas ;-)
The band for these shows is just amazing:
Will Lee - Bass
Rob Mounsey and Matt King - Keyboards
Cliff Almond - Drums
Café - Percussion
Eric Marienthal - sax
And introducing Lizzy Loeb on Guitar and Vocals
Also - on selected gigs (see itinerary below) we will have:

I have been working on a few other very exciting things
as well -
I am happy to be involved in recording the follow up to "To
Grover With Love" prouced by my friend Jason Miles, with
a stellar crew including Buddy Williams, Gerald Veasley, Ralph
McDonald, Andy Snitzer, Najee, Maysa and many others. Watch
for the release later this year.
Carmen and I are working on her new CD focusing—as
you might have guessed—on Bossa Nova!
Metro recently debuted the music from the new CD Express
in Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain and we are preparing for a busy
summer of touring as
Which will include Mitchel and myself and guests:
Dave Weckl on Drums
Gerald Veasley on Bass
Eric Marienthal on sax
and the legendary Randy Brecker on Trumpet.
Look for tour updates as they go up on my and METRO's webite's
and Myspace pages.
Also - Its time to go into production on the next CL CD....
I gotta hand it in by October 1, so I better get busy! Release
date in Early '09
Lizzy's been pretty busy lately. She had a great gig
in NYC at The Bitter End last month, and then headed with
her Manager and sister, Christina to Europe. She was in Berlin
to work with producer and trumpeter Till Brönner and
his brother Pino in the studio, and then had a smashing gig
at The A-Trane club there. They had to turn away 200 people
at the door!
After that the two sisters went down to Madrid to hang with
their Spanish family....
She has been writing and recording up a storm also. Check
out her myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/lizzyloebmusic
I know that's a lot to ingest in one sitting but there's
a lot going on.
As always I wish you the best and hope to see you soon at
one of the shows.
Sincerely,
